My Mum and Dad's Ruby Wedding

Here's the first of some presents for my Mum and Dad's anniversary. I made the vodka by simply steeping red currants (which is the most rubiest fruit I could think of) and sugar in a pretty bottle for a while. James brewed the beer, and it's pretty good stuff now. I enjoyed making the labels and think they look pretty good.

night walks

dusk

These are radom photos from a walk down the canal with James and Adrian. Both photos, for me, capture the magical qulaity of dusk. Fairy time.

Thread

I've been studying textiles for a wee while now, and enjoy thinking about the process of what I've been creating. Anyway what's really stood out to me is times when I've wandered away from what I've been doing and it has followed me, quite literally: I've discovered I tugged the the thread into the next room leaving a trail, like a fairytale creature would so they can find their way home. I also find thread on me wherever I go, and I began thinking about the frustration this might create in others. When I see cotton or hair stuck on someone's shoulder from behind I want to pluck it off in an almost obsessive way.

Abstract

I thought I would invert the originals to play with their abstract nature a bit more.... I printed them out on to brown sugar paper to almost recreate a natural texture, and I reckon they look good.

The snow

I loved the way the snow created a space for nature to be simplified. It meant that the natural shapes got to stand up for themselves and became seemingly abstract images. I also loved that I had an excuse to tromp around in the snow and sneak into people's gardens. I'm just a bit nosey.
